And the best thing is, THEY CAN WEAR IT DURING PRACTICES!!

it was really heartwarming to see them wear the badge together.

it shows how united they all are, and how much they love band.

today, we had our first full dress rehearsal.

so im here to update the alumnis who are performing together with us.

the band will do the opening and the closing of the performances.

we will be playing 'Heal The World' only.

for the opening, we will only play until bar 25. then the other performances will continue.

then finally at the end, the band will play the full piece of heal the world.

understooded?? (: hehe.

okay, as for the attire, the main band will be wearing the Band Uniform,

ofcourse with their badges. :D

AND the alumni will be wearing all black. formal black.

it doesnt have to be a button up shirt, neatly ironed and tucked in.

it can be any top that looks FORMAL/NEAT/PRESENTABLE.

probably you can think like Smart Casual? you know?

something comfortable. (: BUT IT HAS TO BE BLACK.

Mrs Ng specifically asked us to wear black.

GREEN LIFE CONCERT!

WE HAVE AN UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENT!
AND THE BAND IS PERFORMING TWO PIECES!
i aint gonna say the pieces. it would be a surprise! ;D

alright. here are the details.

Event: Green Life Concert

Purpose: To raise funds for our school's running track

Venue: Northbrooks Secondary School

Date: 26th Febuary 2010

Time: 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm

the band will be performing two pieces. both pieces are popular songs. ;D
the band is in need of alumnis to perform for this concert.
well, partly because our band is very young. so we need experienced players.
*more attention to percussionists, trombonists, bass clarinetist, and french horns.
these particular sections are in need of more players.

so ALUMNIS! we're calling out for you!!
DO COME BACK AND HELP OUT!
we have some alumnis coming back to help already.
and they are, Xinhui, Timothy, Bertina, Huiting, Zhangyun, Iskandar, Victor and myself.
WE WILL STILL NEED MORE PLAYERS!! please!! :)

alright, if you are willing to come back and help, here are the possible practice dates.
Saturdays practices, only 23rd jan, 30th jan and 6th feb, 9 to 12 pm.
there are usual band practices on every mondays and thursdays. from 3 pm onwards.
the full dress rehearsals are on 11th and 24th feb, 4 or 5 pm onwards.

so, please do attend and help out!! we need as many alumnis as possible! thanks!

okay, senior kamiyah here to update everyone abt the band camp

DATE: 20th december to 22nd december
Time to report at school: 3.30pm sharp!!

bus leaves for esplanade at 4pm!!!!!!!
please bring money for dinner for sunday night.
we'll be having out dinner outside. bring at least $10.
that will be enough for the dinner. (:

okay, for the things that you need to bring.
ALL THESE ITEMS ARE COMPULSORY FOR THE CAMP!!!!!!!!
bring sufficient clothes for 3 days & 2 nights.
make sure you have your water bottle!
toiletries, you should know what to bring.
please wear shoes that are comfortable for heavy activities. no slippers or heels for girls!
sport shoes/school shoes are prefered. you can bring a slipper for your shower time.
please bring a fork and spoon, just in case it is not provided. (:
if not, you can eat with your hands! =P

anything else that you need to clarify, ask any senior that you know as soon as possible.

date: 20th (sunday) to 22nd (tuesday) december.
time: im not sure yet. wait for that detail.

there is a concert that the band is going.
it is the JC band fest 2009.
TICKETS roughly cost $15/16.
its on the sunday, the 20th of december.
*attire for band members is school uniform.

Hellos People!

Bing here! Sorry that I didn't update the band pratices date, 'cause I forgot! Anyway! The previous post posted by meatball about band camp, there's some changes to it. It's a 3days 2nights camp from 20th December to 22nd December, it's from Sunday to Tuesday. Those had to attend church or Family Day, Mr Tay say please excused yourself from those and to attend the camp. I'm totally not sure about the camp thingy, but I'm sure on Sunday, we'll be going to esplande to watch a concert. The attire is school uniform. The bus wait for no one and so all must be present before 4pm! We might be going for a night walk around the Yishun area to hunt ghost! Kay la, not hunt ghost but to some haunted area (that's what Mr Tay said, ahaha!) And I have no idea about the rest of the programme. (:

since you ask Bing Han to put the dates , so that seniors knw whn right , so im here to tell the seniors whens the Band practice . But wht i know right , this coming monday is our last practice . then the following dates is our Band camp . If im not wrong . Rong Pei will be giving us the form on Monday . I dont know the Band camp till when . What i know is that the band camp is confirm . Rong Pei said its confirm . Its just tht the form is with Mrs Ng . =) so here's the dates alright :

Hey! I'm back, ya!

Kay, I was told by the seniors and junior to update the date and time for band during the practises in the holiday, so I'm here, again. From what I know, the pratises are on every mondays and thrusdays from 1pm to 5pm. There might be early dismissal or late dismissal, but I suppose we'll have late dismissal.

One more thing! I've found SOME songs we played now, phew, XD!

(About the holiday practises, it's not the final, the teachers haven't confirm the other dates and there might be more pratises.)

Anyway, I'm here to talk about the band. I've many things to say but for now, I've forgotten. Maybe I'll update again next time. However, there's one thing that I want and MUST say. I've heard from the Band Major, Rong Pei, that our band strength is around 40, however, the average present strength is only 15, why? I understand that the sec 1 might find band boring like how we use to be, but what disappoint me very much is that the seniors are also acting like this, especially the commitees like Drum Major! As CCA leaders, we should set a good example for the sec 1, right?

One more thing, seniors, please have your section's members number and contact them when they're not present during band, this could really save a lot of time and trouble for Rong Pei to contact the absentees one by one.

Wah hah! I've updated this blog and the profile! I couldn't find those songs we're playing now, so I just change to In The Winter Of 1730s because the previous songs had changed to only 30seconds for don't know what reasons. (=

he used to take northbrooks for about 3 yrs(?)
from 2002/3 till 2005. and now, he's back! :)

i hope that my dearest band members will turn up for band practices.
PLEASE. i know that it is boring now, unlike last time.
but you've got to get used to the fact that your seniors are no longer
by your side. you are the one who should take charge.
dont waste your talent by missing out on practices, because you think its boring.
like i said, if its boring, initiate something fun to do with the band.
probably you could request for a day of fun and games!
do these kind of things. it really help make things better.

Hey band!!

yes, finally & sadly, the seniors has stepped down.

& we didnt even get a chance to meet the sec ones! )):

speech day was a happy yet emotional day for us seniors.

tears of joy and tears of sadness were there.

after the performance, we all crowded in the music room.

i wanted to show a video that i spent 6 hours doing, & yet it couldnt be opened.

but then, our wonderful juniors gave us a surprise!

they gave us seniors a rose each, with their sweetest message ever.

thank you juniors. we really appreciate it.

then everyone had a chance at speaking our thoughts.

it was a treasurable moment, really. ('=

sadly, mr lun was not around for that. boohoo.

anyway, my last words for the band is, stay this strong forever.

i believe that this band can go beyond its limits!

make us proud!! yeah?

we got BRONZE!
so what, at least we maintained.
better then dropping to COP right?
im sure most of your cried because
you felt that you could have done better.
right? its okay to cry and fell that way.
cause its true.
there were things that we could have improved on.

many of you are actually blaming the piece for getting us a bronze.
i dont get it why you guys are thinking that way.
seriously, its the band, not the piece.
we've tried our best.!
its okay.
a bronze is still a medal. no matter what, right?

anyway, mr lun would want to see more commitment.

as you know that our announcement board at school sucks. ><

anyway, i hope today's talk woke you up.
we had a talk is not because we think that you guys are bad or what.
we just wanted to remind you guys that SYF is not long from now.
in fact, its in 48 hours; exactly 2 days. BEAR THAT IN MIND.

we just dont see that sense of urgency in you.
you guys have been delaying time so much lately.
for example, on saturday.
mr lun brought forward the band practice time to 1pm.
but then, whats the problem?
many of you turned up late. & the practice started at exactly 2.40.
might as well mr lun shouldnt have brought forward the time right?

seriously punctuality is important when it comes to things like this.
when 1 person is late or not present, the whole band will actually fall.
just like the phrase, "One band, one sound".
without one player, the sound would be affected.
it is just that simple. dont you agree with me?

i know that many of you have been working really really hard for this year's SYF.
& im proud of you all, as a senior.
i see improvement during every practice. which is a very good thing.
but just because lately, you guys are tired,
you lose your interest and then give up on SYF?
no, you should never give.
even if you dont feel the pinch, think about how much effort you guys have put in.

think about that. also think about Mr Lun.
He has given in to us all the time, he's been closing one eye on us.
He has never given up on us, no matter how much we dissappoint him.
He has constant faith in us, & you should know that.

so let's make Mr Lun be proud of us.
because deep down, i know that, to him, the results of SYF is not important.
its the effort, commitment & the co-operation;
that you have given him during the past few months.
that's is what he expects from us.
without these, a silver would not even come in our way.

so dear bandits, please.

please FOCUS & COMMIT yourself to SYF.

hey band!! i know no one will read this but seriously i have to say this.
the band has seriously improved in playing. sound-wise has improved alot.
but then, not all are commited to attend all practices.
there will always be a day that 1 person will not turn up. it can be anyone, with silly reasons.

then there is band practice today.
& everyone is complaining because of the sudden decision.
you guys should not be complaining at all.
its just for three days, at least an hour each.
what the hell are you complaining for?
yes, many of you have other stuff to do like,
coursework, homework, and assignments to complete.
but still, you want a silver, & yet you are complaining.
i seriously dont understand what you guys want.

this is never a time to complain about such things.
its time to be serious and committed. we only have 3 days left.
put that in your head; 3 DAYS!!
dont let the band down, dont let Mr Lun down, don't let yourself down.
dont forget that you have worked so freaking hard for this year's SYF.
Mr Lun has alot of faith is us, & the last thing he would want to not see is us giving up.
dont you think so? SO BANDMATES, please please please, stop complaining!
after SYF, you are practically free to do what you want.

& the last thing i want to emphasise on is that no matter what the results is,
just know that you have done your very best.
You've made the band proud, the school proud,
MR LUN proud and most importantly, YOURSELF.
to me, going through SYF is an achievement, no matter what the results are.

anyway, the new sec 1s are coming for band practices now.
many have made their choice of intruments.
the percussion section is definitely famous to them.
many were playing around with the drums. (:

band practices with the main band is progressively well.
many are apparently working really hard this time.
to play well for SYF which is in april? yeah.
the video has been shot. & i guess its submitted already.

so practically that's about it.
i believe there will be another band camp coming up.
i dont really know when it is.
but if planning is needed, im sure the alumnis are needed too!

BAND CAMP 2009 - Bonding With One Another

yes seniors/alumnis,
there was band camp, on the 2 - 4 january.
it was a last minute decision but the camp turned out really well.
it was planned and organized by the band alumnis & mrs ng. (:

the camp was awesome.
it wouldnt have been a success without the band members.
surprisingly, many turned up, which is a good thing! (:
the band members bonded with each other during games, cheers & talks.

the band was separated into three different groups;
Group A; Superman, lead by Yingling & Nicholas.
Group B; Popeye, lead by Shikin & Kamiyah.
& Group C; Hello Kitty, lead by Tsu Hui & Iskandar/Timothy(no wonder its hello kitty).

we had tons of games like Water Rag, AEIOU Shield My Babies, Amazing Race, Keep A Distance, Captain's Ball & Think Out Of The Box.
The band sure bonded during those games, especially AEIOU & Amazing Race, when they suffered aches after that.
Im sure they enjoyed AEIOU, it was a new game to them.

we also had the Sec 1 CCA selection day on saturday.
Many Sec 1s were so willing to try the instruments & they were so eager.
We performed four pieces, Lord Of The Rings, Junior Rock, A Song For You & Winter In The 1730s. Alumnis helped out too! :D

today, the students are back to school for their 2nd day of school. :D

well, there was no band camp.
in fact, it has been postponed to 29th december.
it will be a 2 day 1 night camp.

and tmr(monday, 22/12/08),
there will be a band practice, from 9am to 3pm.

ok im not here to update much but to give some life to this dear band blog of ours.
well, i know the band is growing well and im sure that the band will succeed to a greater height.

hey guys! SORRY FOR SUCH A DELAYED POST!
Been really busy for weeks.

17th dec, The first band outing i had since i joined the band for 3 years.
We went to EAST COAST PARK! we celebrated everybody's birthday and it started raining like crazy!
Really really heavy rain.
We took super long and finally found a shelter to settle down. Nothing to do right ? EAT LOR!
Zarinah's mum cooked super nice indian/malay style macaroni plus dawn and hazel's nuggets and hotdogs. Not forgetting Jieying's fried rice as well.
Its really nice, i tot no one would bring food. haha.

The heavy rain finally stopped and it was just drizzles here and there. So we went to the beach, jumped into the water and SPLASH! Swimming was so fun and i nearly DROWNED ! thank god im alive. LOL. Stupid current. So we swam, did really lame and silly things and laughed like some crazy mental patients. HAHA.

we stayed there for several hours and left the place to meet Jamie for her birthday. 17th dec.
11 of us went to marina bay and had steamboat together. Ziwen took a container filled with LIVE prawns and he wanted to scare us. The prawn started jumping around and everyone was like "AHHHHHHHHH !!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE !!" hahaha !!
Ziwen caught it and straight away put it in the boiling water. And there goes a dead prawn. haha. Sad life.

The outing was really great. Cant wait for the next one ! =)

Today we had a section outing.

Trumpet, French Horn and Clarinet. Not all turned up though.

Its supposed to be part of a celebration for amirah's birthday. We went to Escape Theme Park, its been years since i went there. Escape having a promotion, $7 per entry, cheap isn't it ?

We thought Wednesday would not have lots of ppl, but when we went there, there was like long queue for every station. Hate Queueing up, it spoils the excitement.

We didnt manage to try out all the rides, because it rain ! But still enjoy some fun before the rain. We went to haunted house, rainbow, wet & wild, carnival games etc.. Best part was the wet & wild, we were so nervous when the boat started going up the slope. Started screaming even before we slide down. After that super fast silde, we all laughed like crazy, how silly we were being that nervous. Haha.

Although the weather spoiled our trip, but even having a meal and chit chat together was fun.

Hopefully we have more outings together coming up, im sure we will. Planning to catch movies together. BRATZ seems quite nice, bitchy show. Wahaha! =)

Orange for today ! Sulastri went"i love orange!" the whole day. She was even excited about orange dustbin.

Hey,
Today the band attendance is still not good. Mr Lun was very sad when he came, the whole band had a heart to heart talk. The members voice out their feedbacks and suggestion. After the talk, everyone is like so relieved and happy.

Its has been long since i felt so relaxed in the band after i got promoted as the band major.
All these months, i can never enjoy like how i did when i was a normal member.

We planned to have more celebrations. Like birthdays and BBQ.
The holiday practice are cancelled. Because mrs ng and mr lun felt that its unfair to the consistant members. We talk it out, and decided to have practice on 4,6,11,13 dec. But its on our free will, whether we want to come on these dates. The response was good, the members promised to attend.

4 and 6 dec, we are going to practice on our formation display.
5 hours, and 1 hour lunch break. All of us will be going out to have lunch together. Good for bonding.

11 and 13 dec, All of us will organise the band clubhouse together, we are going to paint the walls, decorate and bring in the furnitures. Mr Lun is going to donate TV, and PS2. haha.
After we finish everything, we are going to go outside and have pot-luck together, everyone is going to bring our own food and share with each other. And we'll also buy a big cake and celebrate everyone's birthday.
Anyway, how old is the band already ? 7 ? We want to celebrate NORTHBROOKS CONCERT BAND BIRTHDAY.

I feel so relieved now. Even though the attendance is not as good as before. But the ppl seems to be happier. I've learnt that if we are really sincere, they will give their respect and willingness too.

Okay,

Regarding of the formation thing.
Just tell you frankly, we lack of members.

So i would like to ask the Sec 4 N/a band members whether you guys want to join us to start the formation display.

Its for the sec 1 orientation next year. In order to attract ppl, we need to impress ppl. Thats why, we cant always just sit down and play. Need to do something different, something impressive. Ofcus, this is the first time we are trying out this formation display so it will be a simple one.

If any sec 4s interested, please come on thursday band practice 22 nov (12pm) . For a briefing.
And if you guys decided to join, then you're required to attend every practice.
And ofcus we wont force. If anyone of you see this, please help to pass the msg to the rest as well.

Actually i dont blame the seniors, because its the past already. Cant expect to go back time and solve this problem. We all know that its really difficult to run the band, in fact i've been working these 6 mths for such a poor result. I wish i have long time to really try out different ways to revive the band, but too bad. I have only 5 mths left and i want to make full use of it. Its definitely another difficult path to go through. As i said, im not sure whether i will succeed, let's see.

Anyway,
Me and Angelina is going to start the band formation thing, like we did in our NCO camp. Heard that the previous batches intended to start to, but eventually didn. Hopefully, this time we can make a difference.

And even if anyone wants to make any unpleasant comment, by all means.
I cant stop that.

Haven been in here to blog for ages:)
And i'm quite shocked by the tag too. Not only just ying ling.
As a past senior, i dun thk i would ever refer to the band as retarded.(no offence but that's just my personal view).

Attendance has always been a problem for our band. Not just ying ling's batch.
But my batch has the same problem too:) When everyone comes for band, there's bound to haf someone not attending band prac. And worst, ppl only start coming weeks or even 1 mnths b4 syf( no offence either).

And i'm very sorry to ying ling and angie that i didn't really taught u all much bout my own experience. But i'm not very sure whether the methods used in our daes would actually help to control the band. BUT BUT. i'm very sure that your methods would work well! Cause u all understand the current band better than me or even the past seniors:)

And most importantly,make use of all the knowledge gained in the NCO camp to help improve the band! And i still remember the lecturer told us something that i would never forget:'Everyone in the band is equal'. Hopefully it helps u!

Remember that there's always a senior behind u all in everything u do!

hey, I want to clear somethings.

To Shikin. (Or maybe its someone else.)
Firstly, please indicated what you mean by the band is retarted already.
I have to admit that our band is really not going far due to the attendance problem.

Our committee has been leading the band for 6mths. Although 6 mths is long. But please rmb, we are inexperience. We are adapting and trying of ways to solve problems in the band.
Have anyone ever thought of this questions ?

ARE THE MEMBERS IN THE BAND REALLY PASSING DOWN THEIR KNOWLEDGE TO THEIR FELLOW JUNIORS ?

For example, a senior, he/she can play very well, this person know all the fingerings of the instruments, know how to play different types of articulation. But the question is, did this senior teach every single skill that he/she knows to the juniors?
Its the same for leaders of the band, ppl dont share their experience.

Knowledge and skills are not passed down and therefore, each time a batch step down, these skills are lost. The juniors have to learn by their own experience. Besides the members' personal attitude, this is one of the main cause that the band gets worse year by year.

Its very sad. Human beings dont like to share.
Its even sadder. Why the previous leaders did not spot this mistake?
Worse. I only realised this now.
But im not going to do nothing. Im going to stop this. I wont say that i will definitely succeed. But I have plans, long term plans. This ofcus wont take just overnight. And im going to carry out my plans.

I cant stop criticism. But if you can do better, Why didn you?

The Arts Night was fantastic !

We had performances by :

10. Teacher's rap
11. Finale

The cheers were so overwhelming, the crowd were so hyper! Especially during the Indian dance. Deepika looked so beautiful in her white costume. Best dancer of the night !
Its a pity if you missed it ! Northbrooks annual Arts Festival, you could really feel the unity of Brooksian while we were singing the school anthem loud and proud.

I bet next year would be better ! HURRAY ! =D

Hi! sorry for such a delayed update. Busy with exams.

Northbrooks will be having an annual Arts Festival on 27th October 07.

There will be 2 shows:
5pm - 6.30pm ( Ticket price: $5 )
7pm - 8.30pm ( Ticket price: $8 )

Our band will be performing 3 songs.
It will be conducted by our student conductor.
Mr. (Busy) Lun have his own rehearsal for the musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" at the esplanade.

This event will be a fund raising for our school, open to everyone.
The performances will be put up by concert band, drama, dances, acoustic guitar, raps and singing (by teachers) too.

It will be a great concert for talent showcase. Come and support us!
Tickets are selling. Please contact me if interested. =)

By the way, our band would like to thank kimiya for coming back to practice and perform. (victor cant turn up for the concert.)

But its okay, Miss Khoo is a very nice teacher and she is very active for our band.

Last week we had been teasing Mrs Ng for looking older than Miss Khoo, when she 1 yr younger.
Then the very next day, she wore yellow top, and white skirt with watermelon designs. HAH!

I replied: "Oh, so apparently, watermelon is cute huh? "

Hey guys, sorry for the irregular updating.
I was busy these few weeks.

Okay, currently the band is still working on "The Winter of 1730".
The practice on Tuesday is much better already. Able to hear the Structure of the Song. But haha, harmony is still quite bad. But its okay, i can see people putting effort even those poor attendances members are turning up regularly.

Attendance problem is still there. Average attendance is only 45 per practice. Mr lun's expectation was ermm.. At least 60-70 !

Anyway, our committee is going to set up:
1. CBB- Concert Band Bank.
Each member is going to have their own acc and have to deposit $0.50 per practice so accumulate lots of funds and we will be able to attend concerts.

2. Fancy Drills!!
Haha, drills are so boring and tiring. But if there is music and special steps, drills are much more lifely! Our committe is going start out first before we implement on the whole band.

3. Concert Band Clubhouse
we are going to turn the percussion room into a clubhouse. Just like the "project cabin". Den we will re-paint the walls, design the room etc. Cool huh?
But, still waiting for Guzheng go remove their things.

Anyway, Just like to update on what's happening in band now.

We're currently working on the theory because most of us are quite weak in theory and MANY juniors and sec 2s dont know how to sight-read.

Mr Lun conducted 2 rythm lessons during the practices.
We also played a few games and did some drills for the past practices.

Band is also working on the moral, so we can be united and work together towards goals in future.

And we have a new junior band conductor, he is Mr Tan. Mr Lun's friend, who came to our band and listen before SYF. Guess what? He's a trumpeter too! =)

There will definitely be more and more concerts regardless in school or public! =)
We might need to put up a concert every week during assembly period. But not confirm yet.

The upcoming piece for our band would be "IN THE WINTER OF 1730"

Hope we would excel from it !

Food may or may not be provided.(Depends if there's enough)
Alumni(s) are allowed to stay overnight.

Im not sure whether the Sec 4s are allowed to come because Mrs Ng wants you guys to focus on their studies. But Miss Toh say can, but Sec 4s will have to bring your study materials to the camp and revise. So there's a bit of confusion.

Maybe the Sec 4s just come on the 19th and spend a day there. Mrs ng cant possibily shoo you guys off. =P

ziqi, glenn, mus, tsuhui and i went to visit the band on last thursday :D
the new batch of NCOs were doing great..
SO PROUD OF THEM :D

the juniors are beginning to play peices with the seniors(main band)..
they were doing great :)
saw mr lun.. he put on a little bit of weight??
i think so.. my and ziqi thought so.. hahas! XD

Well,today i'm gonna post pictures of the band in the past.

Yeah, i'm here to update the band blog since timo was requesting ppl to update.
Okie,i'm gonna do a tribute post to Northbrooks concert band.
This post i'm gonna post about the 2 syf that Northbrooks concert band went through.
Yeah, u'll be able to c picture taken in the past frm the post i'm gonna do.

SYF 03

Syf 03 is the first syf for northbrooks concert band.
Its a memorable one. Cos its in july and we spend our time in school till 9pm at nite just to practice for syf.The feeling is so nice lah. Imagine the school only having the band practicing? haha.

I stil remember the times we spend. Everydae after lesson(a week b4 syf), I would rush down to the music room and practice. We dun haf nite practices like the pionner badge cos school dun allow. I was really worried bout syf. But we DID IT! hee=)

Being able to go through 2 syf with northbrooks concert band.
I'm really glad.
Especially the first syf. It made me grow.
I was never so happy in my primary school.
Probably i was still young then.
I never noe how is the feeling when results is gonna be announced.

ALL.. i learn frm northbrooks concert band.
I thk nbss band taught me many things in which i could never learn frm elsewhere.

Love northbrooks concert band!
I thk i'll be attached to this band forever.

*woosh* Its been some time since i update the band blog.

Its feb alreadi and syf is less than 2 mths. I noe everyone would be getting intense especially the sec 4's as u haf your coursework and the o's and n's to handle. Manage your time well, plan a timetable so that u would not be confused of wat to do when you are starting your work.

Aniway, i was blog-hopping and i saw one of the school's band blog and this is wat one of the band members said:

There should be no self-centred people in the band
and
Band-Its never about your alone.

I truly agree. If a band has many self-centred people, it would not be called a'band' animore.
And a band is like a big family, we shld work together as one.

Some words to the committee members:
I noe that you are trying the very best to control the band. Dun give up! continue to perserve!
There is always ways to help to solve the problems that happen in band. Jia you!

Some words to band members:
Jia you and play hard! NO more time to waste!Treat every band prac seriously frm now on!

hey, something had happen during band prac today.
Mr lun is very angry as the band didnt really work hard today.
i donnoe why today the band is very sian...

well,bandmens....
u guyz better buck up and must really use the time for sectional to practice the set piece.
if u don practice hard,i cant say aniting. u noe wats gonna happen.
plz,don bring the band to COP. we must really work hard in order to achieve silver or gold. ok?

rite now the important piece that we must focus is the set piece.
we don wan to get COP bcoz of not playing well in tis piece.
our choice piece can get us a silver already but plz,don loose this chance of getting silver for our band....

as for the leaders,
i hope that u will do ur job and also help the majors as well.

Read abt Kamiyah's post and i felt that what she said is really something meaningful and its something that you gonna reflect about. Aniway, today's cca day was rather fine but i still feel that your were a bit rush when playing certain parts of junior rock and dedication.

There is band prac next week so pls turn up alrite? there is no more time for your to play n fool ard. Its time to be serious and focus on syf.

i'm quite shock that the attendance was quite good today... i hope the attendance will stay like this and improve even better (:

fellow band members, after much thought... i finally decided to post a little abt the band.. pls continue to read because this is important... (: im gonna start wif the attendance...
the attendance is terrible!!!! why? because some of the members dont want to turn up for practice and its a bad habit!! every single practice is important because... when u dont turn up but the others turn up, its not going to be fair for them!!! those who turn up play hard so that the band can sound good and wat about those who dont turn up? they take things for granted and think that they can get away with it... noway!! u get DOUBLE attention instead and yes, i meant it (:

so please turn up for EVERY SINGLE practice!!! that includes the saturday one!!! some of u are already sec 3 and u still behave like childish kids.. huh? wat's with that? GROW UP! face reality! u have to come for practice means u come! dont give stupid reasons like i need to take care of my little sibling or i got tuition... these are not valid!!!! SYF is coming already and we havent even started on the set piece and mind u, its mostly running notes.. so PLEASE dont take things for granted and not come for band practice... remember! u give us good attendance ur cca points will improve... and these cca points will help u when u graduate from sch!!!!! put this in ur mind!!!!

some tips to motivate u for band
-u got a talent in music so show it off and improve on it!
-have a positive mindset about the band

Inconvenient Truth

A dream is just a dream. A goal is just a goal if we dont take the step forward to grab it its useless. Is it worth it coming to practice week after week practicing for 3 hours and having footdrill. pounding your foot as you march on the spot with every aching step that surges through your body and mind if you dont succeed in the end?

Let this question linger in your mind and hearts. Strive to achieve whats yours. Me posting isnt just to nag but to motivate. I may not be around to sit in during band practice but if you keep putting ur mind into what your doing, that is practicing, my job is done as a senior. You've reach the halfway mark in your journey towards SYF so dont let the build up be wasted. Perseverence is the key to success. Think of others in the band. Your absence may be the cause of the downfall of the WHOLE band. A nation before self they say so think of others before you think for yourself. Dont be that inconsiderate jerk that is always MIA.

I've trust in Northbrooks Concert Band that you guys will do whats right into realising that what you want in the end is to attain an achievement and hopefully not embarressment.

hey its me, kamiyah in the house to update this band blog!!!
did u ppl had fun during the 2 day 1 night camp? i hope so =)
well... im quite impressed wif the band members performance during the camp...
ur discipline was not bad... playing... ermmmm can say good lar(surprised u all can play better when u're sleepy?!)
hahas... and then many participate in the activities given... that was good!!!
especially the "to the rescue!" game... which flour went all over ur face and place... haha! and then use ur taste buds... and the drink bitter ice coffee w/o sugar... and then form human formation in the quickest time!!! (impressed huh!?) lol...
even more... all of u were engrossed in the movie screening - drumline... haha
ur footdrills are improving but still cannot say pass... if we work as one team play as one band... it will be perfect!
do everything wif a positive attitude... =)
i hope u all have learnt something throughout this camp...

REMEMBER!!! AIM FOR SYF 2007- GOLD OR MAINTAIN A SILVER!!!!! hehe

Heard that attendance for band hasn't been very good ever since last week. Many people are still missing frm band prac. Pls don't avoid band practice animore. If u still wishes to do the school proud by attaining silver or gold, pls do turn up for band practice on thursday.

There is no point if the seniors keep ranting at you but u yourself do not take your innitiative to come for band practice. Like wat i have said in my previous post, u reali wanna let your seniors hard work go down the drain? Think carefully. It would be meaningless if only a certain protion of band members coming for band prac.

So pls turn up for band prac at 8am on thu.

whoa... shocked that the band attendance was really bad... what is that? all of u as band members should be responsible to turn up for practices!! as said on the previous post that xinhui made... u all should know that ur attendance is reflected in ur results slip!!! ur cca points can actually help u in ur results!!! if u still carry on not turning up for practices.. we really cannot help u le.. syf is in half a year time.. we only got half a year to practice our choice piece and sect piece... the sect piece is not given too!! we took such a long time to play spirit of the pioneers... and until now we still cannot play that piece well... i suggest that all of u shud focus on band now since its the holidays... dun give excuses that are not valid!!! its time to buck up!!! we have to work on out foot drills and discipline also... the discipline of the band is terrible... when asked to play a piece... instead of practicing the piece given... u all play other pieces like ascentium and so on... we shud be focusing on one piece for now!!! and that is spirit of the pioneers!!!! pls... i do not want this to happen again... pls pls pls turn up for practices and practice well... cause we're not gonna make it to syf if all of u continue to be like that!!! the award won from the syf can actually help in ur cca points... winning a silver or gold can get u around 3 points... which is good... all u have to do is play hard!!! that simple... i dun find the reason why u all must run away from band practice!!! this is for your own good!!!
