Today we had a section outing.
Trumpet, French Horn and Clarinet. Not all turned up though.
Its supposed to be part of a celebration for amirah's birthday. We went to Escape Theme Park, its been years since i went there. Escape having a promotion, $7 per entry, cheap isn't it ?
We thought Wednesday would not have lots of ppl, but when we went there, there was like long queue for every station. Hate Queueing up, it spoils the excitement.
We didnt manage to try out all the rides, because it rain ! But still enjoy some fun before the rain. We went to haunted house, rainbow, wet & wild, carnival games etc.. Best part was the wet & wild, we were so nervous when the boat started going up the slope. Started screaming even before we slide down. After that super fast silde, we all laughed like crazy, how silly we were being that nervous. Haha.
Although the weather spoiled our trip, but even having a meal and chit chat together was fun.
Hopefully we have more outings together coming up, im sure we will. Planning to catch movies together. BRATZ seems quite nice, bitchy show. Wahaha! =)
Orange for today ! Sulastri went"i love orange!" the whole day. She was even excited about orange dustbin.

Hey,
Today the band attendance is still not good. Mr Lun was very sad when he came, the whole band had a heart to heart talk. The members voice out their feedbacks and suggestion. After the talk, everyone is like so relieved and happy.
Its has been long since i felt so relaxed in the band after i got promoted as the band major.
All these months, i can never enjoy like how i did when i was a normal member.
We planned to have more celebrations. Like birthdays and BBQ.
The holiday practice are cancelled. Because mrs ng and mr lun felt that its unfair to the consistant members. We talk it out, and decided to have practice on 4,6,11,13 dec. But its on our free will, whether we want to come on these dates. The response was good, the members promised to attend.
4 and 6 dec, we are going to practice on our formation display.
5 hours, and 1 hour lunch break. All of us will be going out to have lunch together. Good for bonding.
11 and 13 dec, All of us will organise the band clubhouse together, we are going to paint the walls, decorate and bring in the furnitures. Mr Lun is going to donate TV, and PS2. haha.
After we finish everything, we are going to go outside and have pot-luck together, everyone is going to bring our own food and share with each other. And we'll also buy a big cake and celebrate everyone's birthday.
Anyway, how old is the band already ? 7 ? We want to celebrate NORTHBROOKS CONCERT BAND BIRTHDAY.
I feel so relieved now. Even though the attendance is not as good as before. But the ppl seems to be happier. I've learnt that if we are really sincere, they will give their respect and willingness too.

Okay,
Regarding of the formation thing.
Just tell you frankly, we lack of members.
So i would like to ask the Sec 4 N/a band members whether you guys want to join us to start the formation display.
Its for the sec 1 orientation next year. In order to attract ppl, we need to impress ppl. Thats why, we cant always just sit down and play. Need to do something different, something impressive. Ofcus, this is the first time we are trying out this formation display so it will be a simple one.
If any sec 4s interested, please come on thursday band practice 22 nov (12pm) . For a briefing.
And if you guys decided to join, then you're required to attend every practice.

Thanks, Xinhui. Actually i dont blame the seniors, because its the past already. Cant expect to go back time and solve this problem. We all know that its really difficult to run the band, in fact i've been working these 6 mths for such a poor result. I wish i have long time to really try out different ways to revive the band, but too bad. I have only 5 mths left and i want to make full use of it. Its definitely another difficult path to go through. As i said, im not sure whether i will succeed, let's see.
Anyway,
Me and Angelina is going to start the band formation thing, like we did in our NCO camp. Heard that the previous batches intended to start to, but eventually didn. Hopefully, this time we can make a difference. And even if anyone wants to make any unpleasant comment, by all means.

HELLO:)Haven been in here to blog for ages:)And i'm quite shocked by the tag too. Not only just ying ling.As a past senior, i dun thk i would ever refer to the band as retarded.(no offence but that's just my personal view).Attendance has always been a problem for our band. Not just ying ling's batch.But my batch has the same problem too:) When everyone comes for band, there's bound to haf someone not attending band prac. And worst, ppl only start coming weeks or even 1 mnths b4 syf( no offence either).And i'm very sorry to ying ling and angie that i didn't really taught u all much bout my own experience. But i'm not very sure whether the methods used in our daes would actually help to control the band. BUT BUT. i'm very sure that your methods would work well! Cause u all understand the current band better than me or even the past seniors:)And most importantly,make use of all the knowledge gained in the NCO camp to help improve the band! And i still remember the lecturer told us something that i would never forget:'Everyone in the band is equal'. Im really glad that im went for NCO camp. Its a really meaningful lesson.Great things are taught, things that i've never realised.
Its a pity this annual camp is held at nov. I hope what i've learnt dont just stop here. Ofcus, im not going to sit down and do nothing. okay, i guess that's all. -yingling.

hey, I want to clear somethings. To Shikin. (Or maybe its someone else.) Firstly, please indicated what you mean by the band is retarted already. I have to admit that our band is really not going far due to the attendance problem. Our committee has been leading the band for 6mths. Although 6 mths is long. But please rmb, we are inexperience. We are adapting and trying of ways to solve problems in the band. Have anyone ever thought of this questions ?
ARE THE MEMBERS IN THE BAND REALLY PASSING DOWN THEIR KNOWLEDGE TO THEIR FELLOW JUNIORS ? For example, a senior, he/she can play very well, this person know all the fingerings of the instruments, know how to play different types of articulation. But the question is, did this senior teach every single skill that he/she knows to the juniors?
Its the same for leaders of the band, ppl dont share their experience.Knowledge and skills are not passed down and therefore, each time a batch step down, these skills are lost. The juniors have to learn by their own experience. Besides the members' personal attitude, this is one of the main cause that the band gets worse year by year. Its very sad. Human beings dont like to share. Its even sadder. Why the previous leaders did not spot this mistake?
Worse. I only realised this now.
But im not going to do nothing. Im going to stop this. I wont say that i will definitely succeed. But I have plans, long term plans. This ofcus wont take just overnight. And im going to carry out my plans.
I cant stop criticism. But if you can do better, Why didn you? -yingling.
